Dr Diane Harland
Senior Research Officer
Dr Diane Harland (PhD) is the Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group Senior Research Officer. Diane is an experienced academic/research scientist having worked in medicine, health, and exercise science for over 25 years. Her research interests include lower limb structure and function, obesity, work boot design, surfing technique, lymphoedema, lung cancer/smoking cessation and advanced illness.
She has extensive clinical and translational research experience as a project manager/research fellow on government and industry national and international projects. Her PhD investigated the biomechanics of foot structure and function in overweight and obese children and her publications have been cited over 900 times.
Diane also works in the Graduate School of Medicine and the School of Education at University of Wollongong and in the School of Population Health at University of New South Wales where she lectures and supervises undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students.
